Sharp to Boost Solar Cell Output Capacity Sep 25, 2003

Sharp Corp said it will build a seventh production line in its solar cell plant in the town of Shinjo, Nara Prefecture, to boost the plant's annual output capacity by some 25 percent to 248 megawatts.

Sharp said it will spend 3.5 billion yen to build the new line which will begin to operate in November, making the Shinjo plant the largest solar cell production facility in the world. (Kyodo News)
