AK Steel Corporation said that it plans to request a rehearing of a decision by the European Union (EU) to impose a provisional duty on some of its stainless cold-rolled imports.
AK Steel said it had fully complied with the EU's investigation of imports by U.S. producers of certain grades of stainless cold-rolled steel products. The company said that it does not believe AK Steel's imports of these products to Europe violate anti-dumping laws.
The steels are used in numerous applications, including heat exchangers, tubing, and automotive exhaust applications, the company stated, adding that less than 3 percent of its total annual shipments are exported and only a portion of those exports would be subject to these provisional European Union duties.
