Manufacturer Illinois Tool Works Inc. narrowed its forecast for third-quarter earnings, saying it expects a boost from acquisitions and the weaker dollar to offset falling revenue in its core businesses.
The company said it expects to earn U.S. $0.79 cents to $0.84 a share from continuing operations in the third quarter ended Aug. 31, compared with its previous forecast for $0.77 to $0.87 a share.
The company said operating revenue increased 6 percent in the quarter.
