Salton Launches New Coffee Maker, Names Spokesperson Sep 8, 2003

Salton, Inc. announced that it has named Julie Moran, former anchor of the leading syndicated television magazine show Entertainment Tonight, as the new host of a long-form commercial introducing the Melitta One:One Coffeemaker. According to the company, the coffee maker uses Melitta coffee pods to make an individual mug of fresh coffee in less than 60 sec and, with the patented Cooper tea pods, just 35 sec for tea. The company has already shipped the first production units of the product and expects to be near full-production levels in time for Christmas.

Ms. Moran is expected to appear in long-form commercials beginning in October. According to Leonhard Dreimann, chief executive officer of Salton, Inc., the company believes that a long-form commercial featuring Ms. Moran will increase consumer awareness and demand for its Melitta One:One products.

Ms. Moran was the primary substitute anchor, weekend anchor, and senior correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. She also co-hosted the Academy Awards pre-show for ABC. She was named as one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People". Previously, Ms. Moran anchored the Emmy Award-winning "ABC's Wide World of Sports", becoming the first woman in its 35-year history to play such a role. She is a former America's Junior Miss.
