LG Electronics Indonesia (LGEIN) announced on Thursday that Indonesia will be a manufacturing base for some of its electronic home appliances.
Company president Young Ha Kim said yesterday that Indonesia will be the manufacturing base for televisions, refrigerators, air-conditioners, and other home appliances in the region.
The decision was made after the implementation of the Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) scheme this year, Mr. Kim said.
He said 65 percent of the company production of televisions, refrigerators, and air-conditioners are made for the domestic market and the rest are exported to other countries in this region. Locally produced goods account for 90 percent of the company’s sales, and imported products like washing machines account for only 10 percent, Mr. Kim said.
"LGEIN is set to become number one producer of electronic goods in Indonesia," he said. (Asia Pulse)
