Japanese shipments of consumer electronics equipment in July grew 3.1 percent from a year earlier to 171.6 billion yen (U.S. $1.48 billion) for the second consecutive month of increase, an industry body said. The Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association attributed the rise largely to audiovisual equipment, which posted a 3.1-percent gain in shipments to 97.1 billion yen ($834.9 million) for the first increase in three months.
