iRobot Corp., a maker of robotic vacuums, announced today that it added two new models to its Roomba Robotic FloorVac family that are said to offer consumers more power and control than other models.
The Roomba Pro, in blue, and the Roomba Pro Elite, in red, reportedly offer extra-strength cleaning and navigation by remote control.
The new slate blue Roomba Pro is said to have all the features of the original Roomba, plus a new "spot cleaning" mode, which allows Roomba Pro to focus on a specific dirty area. Roomba Pro also comes with two "virtual wall" units that block doorways with an invisible beam, confining Roomba to a designated area. This model sells for U.S. $229.99.
The new merlot red Roomba Pro Elite includes all the features of Roomba Pro, but also features a remote control, called a Roomba Control, that lets users navigate the robotic vacuum around a room, set cleaning options, and turn the vacuum on or off with the touch of a button. The Roomba Pro Elite model also features a "MAX" cleaning mode for multi-room cleaning or high-traffic areas. This model includes a lightweight wall mount for easy storage and sells for $249.99.
Roomba products are currently sold at Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Linens 'N Things, Kohl's, Best Buy, The Sharper Image, Brookstone, Hammacher Schlemmer and other retailers.
