Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson, announced that it has been selected as the key technology provider for NORDYNE's new line of ultra-high efficiency central air-conditioners and heat pumps that will be sold under the Maytag, Frigidaire, Tappan, and Westinghouse brand names. NORDYNE, based in O'Fallon, MO, U.S., launched the new lineup of cooling systems in early July.

NORDYNE's air-conditioner is rated at 16 SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) and the heat pump is rated at 15+ SEER. Both offerings use chlorine-free R-410A refrigerant. According to the company, each system uses the new Copeland Scroll(TM) UltraTech compressor—Emerson's next-generation two-stage scroll compressor that reportedly delivers superior energy efficiency, industry-leading reliability, and improved indoor comfort control.

"Customers continue to demand higher energy efficiency and alternative refrigerants in their HVAC systems, and these new systems offer both," NORDYNE's president and CEO Dave LaGrand said. "NORDYNE's product philosophy is to use proven technology in innovative ways. By using Emerson's scroll compressor and its other successful technologies, we are able to offer the quality and dependability that customers have come to expect from NORDYNE and its name brand systems."

The ultra-high efficiency systems being made by NORDYNE also include Emerson's Comfort Alert(TM) diagnostics module that helps analyze electrical problems and system-related faults.
