The organizers of HomeTech 2004, a joint venture of the two German organizers Koelnmesse GmbH and Messe Berlin GmbH, announced several changes to the appliance industry trade fair.
The fair, to be held in Cologne, Germany, takes place on Feb. 25-27, 2004, as opposed to the previously announced dates (Feb. 25-29).
The show’s format has also been changed to strictly an industry event. The general public will no longer be admitted, and the various associated events on the fairgrounds have been canceled.
HomeTech 2004 will still take place at the Cologne Exhibition Grounds, although the venue for HomeTech Components has been moved from the Rheinhallen (Halls 1, 2, and 3) to Halls 13.2 and 13.3.
"The vast majority of the firms have expressed their preference for a traditional trade fair as a platform for their presentations," Klaus Wellmann and Matthias Steckmann of HomeTech said in a letter to fair exhibitors. "In particular some of the market leaders, which had lent their considerable support to the idea of admitting the general public to HomeTech, have not confirmed their attendance next year or have already decided not to attend."
The show organizers also said that the announced changes have created "the ideal setting for a common platform for the entire domestic appliance industry."
In closing, they said: "We are certain that the decision to concentrate on making HomeTech purely a trade fair will provide the basis for the success of this event in 2004."
