Iran and Italy are to jointly manufacture home appliances using the latest technology, an Asia Pulse report said.

Speaking at a ceremony Saturday to launch their joint operations, the head of the Iranian side, Mohammad-Mehdi Sadeqi, said that gaining consumer satisfaction while protecting the interests of producers and forging a successful manufacturing process would be among the priorities of the cooperation, the report said.

He added that Iran and Italy aim to increase their joint production as well as upgrade and share technology on the manufacture of refrigerators and ovens.

According to the official, Iran is in the process of designing production lines for various home appliances that will carry Italian brand names, and it will try to increase as well as upgrade the quality of its products in order to meet domestic and foreign demands as of the second half of the current Iranian year, according to the report.

Mr. Sadeqi further said that a trained work force, modern machinery, and competitive prices would be among the most effective ways by which local companies can increase their share in regional markets.

During the session, the two sides discussed avenues for boosting technical and trade ties as well as getting a foothold on regional markets, the report said.
