Lennox Selects Emerson Compressor for New Residential Air-Conditioners

Emerson Climate Technologies today announced that Lennox Industries Inc., a subsidiary of Lennox International Inc., will incorporate two of Emerson Climate Technologies' UltraTech(TM) Home Series products into its new premium residential air-conditioning system being introduced this spring.

Emerson's Copeland Scroll UltraTech(TM) two-stage compressors and its new Comfort Alert(TM) Diagnostics technology will be used to power and monitor the new Lennox HSX19 series central air-conditioners and heat pumps -- the high-end offering within the Dave Lennox Signature(TM) Collection of premium systems. The new Lennox cooling system, using R-410A refrigerant, will carry a 19.2 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating, nearly twice as efficient as standard units, according to Lennox.

The Emerson-Lennox partnership represents the first sale for Emerson Climate Technologies' new UltraTech(TM) Home Series line of products. With the rapid growth of the high-efficiency market for residential air conditioning over the past 2 years, Emerson and Lennox said they expect the launch of the HSX19 series to generate significant sales growth over the next 5 years.

According to Emerson, the Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor is the industry's first two-stage scroll compressor. Operating at two-thirds capacity up to 80 percent of the time and at full capacity only on the hottest days, the Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor reportedly provides greater energy efficiency, improves temperature consistency, lowers relative humidity, and runs quieter than standard compressors. The Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor is designed for use with R-410A, the environmentally friendly, chlorine-free refrigerant.

The Lennox HSX19 series is the first to include onboard compressor diagnostics, using Emerson Climate Technologies' new Comfort Alert Diagnostics technology. This diagnostics product analyzes compressor performance and system demand to pinpoint the root cause of electrical and system related failures. The product won a 2003 Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Award for technology innovation.
