Whirlpool Considers Waste Diversion

Whirlpool Canada and Axis Group International are working on what they call "the waste diversion imperative."

Professor Alexander Manu, a partner at Axis, says the focus of his firm's project with Whirlpool is a "consumer solution for the diversion of organics at source." They have developed an under-the-counter appliance, still in experimental testing, that reduces all household organic waste into a small, dry, odorless, compacted block, or brick you can throw into the fireplace or the garden. The appliance is as-yet unnamed. (Toronto Star)
