Toshiba Develops Fuel Cell Mar 6, 2003

Toshiba Corp. said it had developed a prototype fuel
cell for portable PCs, a type of power supply that
researchers hope will some day replace rechargeable batteries. The fuel cell can run about 5 hr on a single cartridge of
methanol fuel, Toshiba said. A Toshiba spokesman, Tsuneo Sasazawa, said the company planned to commercialize the DMFC, or direct methanol fuel cell, within the next year for use in notebook PCs, cellular phones, and other portable devices. (AP)
