Spain's Endesa to Supply Power to Merloni Plants Feb 19, 2003

Spanish electricity company Endesa SA said on Wednesday that it has signed a 1-year agreement to supply electricity to MPE, a unit of Italian home appliance maker Merloni Elettrodomestici SpA.

The company will provide power through its Italian plants, which have a power capacity of 5.72 gigawatts and generated 18.0 terawatt-hr in 2002.

A company official couldn't specify how much electricity will be supplied under this contract, but added that Endesa is currently negotiating several other contracts in the Italian liberalized market for a total of 4 TWh. (Dow Jones)
