Samsung rolls out freezers at new Mexico factory Feb 18, 2003

Samsung Electronics' Mexican subsidiary said it has started
to produce the "i-COOL" refrigerator model at its new plant in
Queretaro, central Mexico, which was built with an investment of U.S. $50 million.

The electronics company held a reception at an indoor ice rink in Mexico City to mark the debut of the new product. About 300 dealers, customers, and journalists attended the event.

A Samsung official said he expected a good reaction to the new
refrigerator model from local consumers since it is made to be
adaptable to the dry weather conditions and the living environment in Mexico.

The company's sales in Mexico have been expanding 30-40 percent per year. Samsung has two plants in the Latin American country's export-import zones in Tijuana and in Queretaro. (Korea Herald)
