Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has opened a new office at its Arkansas, U.S. headquarters to identify quality U.S. products that would appeal to its Wal-Mart shoppers in other nations.
The new office, GP USA Export, is a division of Wal-Mart Global Procurement, the internal buying agency the mega-retailer formed last year to source products for Wal-Mart's domestic and international operations.
The GP USA Export office will give U.S. suppliers an advantage in exporting they may not currently have because of Wal-Mart's expertise in logistics and regulatory issues. A common complaint from U.S. companies wanting to export U.S.-made products reportedly is that they cannot navigate all of the restrictive import regulations in foreign countries, according to the company.
