LG Electronics Inc., a South Korean electronics and appliance maker posted a loss for the fourth quarter as costs rose and the popularity of flat-panel screens hurt its display tube venture.

LG had a net loss of 179 billion won (U.S. $152 million), compared with a loss of 244 billion won in the year-earlier quarter. LG booked 130 billion won in losses from a venture with Philips Electronics NV that produces glass tube-based displays. (Bloomberg News)
