HP India Unveils Consumer PCs Jan 20, 2003

Hewlett-Packard India Pvt Ltd (HP) has announced the launch of a new consumer PC line, that includes eight models. HP India Personal Systems Group vice president Ravi Swaminathan said, "The new enhanced range of consumer PCs are aimed at meeting the requirements of diversified customers in the home segment, from budget first time users, mature PC users to tech enthusiasts." The home segment is one of the fastest growing in the domestic personal computer market, according to IDC 30 percent of the 2.2 million PCs sold in 2002 is expected to be from the home segment. The company introduced its first entry-level PC, and hopes to make a dent in the assembled PC segment (80 percent market share) with new lower-priced models with better features, Mr. Swaminathan said.
