Sony Corp. said it was planning to reduce the number of its distribution and parts-procurement centers worldwide by 10 percent to about 100 to lower costs. Sony also said it would overhaul its system of purchasing and distributing parts used in its products by merging two subsidiaries into a new company called Sony Supply Chain Solutions Inc. The new company will be responsible for international procurement and distribution of components and products throughout the Sony group, the company said. (Bloomberg News)
