Sony to Move Some LCD Production to China

Sony Semiconductor Kyushu Corp. plans to move some of its production lines for small liquid crystal displays (LCDs) used mainly for digital cameras to a plant in China, the subsidiary of Sony Corp. said. The move is aimed at utilizing lower wages in China to cut costs and increase price competitiveness, the Fukuoka-based company said, noting it will set up two offices Jan. 1 to consider the plan. (Kyodo News)
