Martin Industries Inc., a maker of premium fireplaces, said it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and has reached an agreement to sell its operating assets for U.S. $4.4 million. The company has has arranged debtor-in-possession financing to fund the company's operations. Martin said it has agreed to sell its operating assets to Monessen Hearth Systems Co. It plans to try to sell its real estate separately. (Reuters)
