The Vacuum Cleaner Manufacturer Association (VCMA) has announced the development of a standard for residential central vacuum systems installations. ASTM F2158, Standard Specification for Residential Central Vacuum Tube and Fittings, offers an installation guide and material specification for tubing and fittings used in central vacuum system installations. Manufacturers who are in compliance earn the right to identify and market their products as conforming with the standard, which was developed as a collaborative effort involving engineers and technicians from VCMA member companies, along with builders, installers, consultants, and industry experts.
