Electrolux Kelvinator to Enter AC Market

Electrolux Kelvinator Ltd (EKL) plans to enter the air-conditioner market during the middle of next year with niche products. "We will test niche products which will be imported as completely built units (CBUs) and then take a decision on investing in manufacturing capabilities," EKL CEO Ram S. Ramasundar said.

Considering that the air-conditioner market constitutes the most competitive among white goods categories, Mr. Ramasundar said, "we would like to break even in our core Indian competencies before we take on anything else." At present, EKL manufactures refrigerators and washing machines in India. (The Financial Express)
