AMD Expects Increase Dec 6, 2002

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said it expected fourth-quarter sales to increase 35 percent from the third quarter - significantly higher than the previous estimate of a 20-percent jump.

The company said the improvement is the result of greater-than-expected demand for PC processors, as well as flash memory, which is used in cell phones and personal digital assistants. AMD did not say how the revenue increase would affect its expected fourth-quarter loss. It will report full results for the
period on Jan. 16.(AP)
