Fedders-Lloyd to Return to AC Market Dec 4, 2002

Industrial air-conditioning company Fedders-Lloyd (FL) plans to return to the consumer aircon market this month, FL’s chief executive officer R Krishnan said. The company, which began in 1956 as a consumer air-conditioner manufacturer, shifted operations completely to critical industrial applications including railway compartment air-conditioning, and various products for the indian defense forces and government agencies. Their re-entry, geared to make use of Christmas and new year buyers, will be after a market absence of almost 20 years.

"In the 80s, we left the consumer market because there was no growth," said Mr. Krishnan, "but now, with flexible finance plans and extensive penetration of aircon products in all income groups, we have decided to make a comeback." (Financial Express)
