Daktronics Doubles Second-Quarter Profit Nov 20, 2002

Daktronics Inc., a maker of large-screen video displays, scoreboards, and computer-programmable display systems, said its quarterly profit doubled from a year earlier as sales increased and backlog rose also. Daktronics said its second-quarter net income rose to U.S. $4 million, or $0.21 per diluted share, compared with net income of $2 million, or $0.10 per diluted share, a year earlier. The Brookings, SD, U.S.-based company posted second-quarter sales of $48.1 million, compared with sales of $41.6 million a year earlier.

Daktronics forecast third-quarter sales in a range of $36 million to $41 million. Daktronics said its backlog at the end of the second quarter was about $51 million, compared with $37 million a year earlier, reflecting a strong backlog of projects scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2003.
