Appliance brand Jenn-Air(R) announced today that it will conduct a charity auction for its one-of-a-kind Luxury Series(TM) Built-In Refrigerator designed by fashion designer Nicole Miller. All proceeds from the auction will go to the national hunger charity Share Our Strength, one of the nation's leading anti-hunger and anti-poverty organizations.
The auction will begin today online at eBay, the auction web site, and will end on Nov. 24.
The refrigerator, valued at more than U.S. $15,000, is a vintage Miller design, featuring a colorful floral front that is made out of resin but designed to look like stained glass. Ms. Miller created the 48-in overlay panels that cover the refrigerator this spring to help launch the new Jenn-Air Luxury Series Built-In Refrigerator, a refrigerator that can be personalized on both the exterior and interior. The Luxury Series refrigerator with custom panels designed by Nicole Miller has been shown three times: at a New York media event and at two kitchen industry trade shows.
Now, with the product introduction complete, Jenn-Air is auctioning off the appliance to benefit Share Our Strength,
"While we originally contacted Nicole to help us showcase the personalization opportunities made possible by the Luxury Series, we also understood that her design would have great value to many people," said Bill Deter, vice president of Jenn-Air. "We knew that after we completed our product launch we would use this beautiful design for a good cause. With its national reach and grassroots philosophy, Share Our Strength is a great partner."
