Toshiba Corp. envisions building a factory to make semiconductor chips for use in digital household items such as digital cameras and advanced mobile phones, Toshiba officials said. The factory would make chips based on next-generation wafers 30 cm wide. Toshiba envisions choosing between building the plant within the premises of its system large-scale integrated circuit factory in Oita, Oita Prefecture, or the flash memory factory in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, the Toshiba officials said.
