Durable Goods Imports Fall in Israel

For the first 10 months of the year, Israel's durable good imports fell 17 percent, to U.S. $1.136 billion, compared to $1.373 billion the same period last year.

Imports of durable goods in October rose 8 percent compared to September, but fell 11 percent compared to October 2001, according to figures published by the customs and VAT department's economic planning division.

Imports of durable goods totaled $108.2 million, up from $100.4 million in September but down from $121.3 million in October last year. Refrigerator imports in the first 10 months of the year fell 11 percent, washing machines fell 15 percent, dryers fell 9 percent, television imports fell 26 percent, and dishwasher imports fell 12 percent.
