General Electric says 14,000 workers could hit the picket lines early next year, after their union favored a strike if GE raises their out-of-pocket medical costs. The electronic workers union that represents half of GE's unionized labor force voted in favor of authorizing a strike if GE calls for co-payment increases to take effect Jan 1. General Electric says the right to raise co-payment costs is part of the workers contract, which expires on June 15, 2003. If the workers strike, it would be the first national strike at GE since 1969. (Forbes.com)
