International Comfort Products Corporation (ICP) today announced that it will be the exclusive original equipment manufacturer of Kenmore-brand residential, central heating and cooling equipment for Sears, Roebuck and Co.

Last month, Sears announced it would be the exclusive retailer of Carrier-brand residential heating and air conditioning equipment. Carrier and ICP are subsidiaries of United Technologies Corporation. Both agreements take effect Jan. 1. Terms were not disclosed.

The ability to offer Kenmore and Carrier products at Sears through one of the nation's largest HVAC sales organizations further strengthens its position in the market, giving customers more reason to rely on Sears when it comes to outfitting their homes and families.

"ICP has a long and successful history of manufacturing some of the industry's best heating and air conditioning equipment," said Lyle Heidemann, executive vice president and general manager for Sears' Hardlines. "ICP's track record will help make Kenmore an even stronger brand name in this product area."

Additionally, ICP says its energy-efficient products will help Sears continue to develop programs to help educate consumers to the features and benefits of using Energy Star-labeled products, a U.S. Department of Energy program aimed at helping businesses and consumers identify energy efficient solutions. Sears has been named the Department of Energy's Energy Star Retail Partner of the Year for the past 3 years.
