NEC to Increase China PC Manufacturing Oct 11, 2002

NEC Corp. said it plans to raise the ratio of local manufacturing of PCs in China from the current 10 percent to 85 percent in fiscal 2004, beginning in April of that year. NEC revealed the plan while introducing its latest products, adding it will raise the ratio by contracting out the production to more than one local company. It will help NEC reduce costs at home, it said. (Kyodo News)
