Philips Electronics NV will disband its components unit as of Jan. 1. The company said its reorganization plan will result in onetime costs of about 175 million euros (U.S. $172 million).

Philips' components business manufactures displays for laptops and mobile phones and parts used in Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox game consoles and Apple Computer Inc. computers. The components unit also makes monitors and CD and DVD drives for Dell Computer Corp. (Bloomberg News)
