NEC to Combine Units Oct 1, 2002

NEC Corp. said it will combine seven subsidiaries for development of communications systems in January to enhance its capacity of developing optical communications and other systems. The seven Japanese subsidiaries, including NEC Communication Systems Ltd. in Tokyo, NEC Communication Systems Tohoku Ltd. in Sendai, and NEC Communication Systems Kansai Ltd. in Osaka, are currently divided by region and product lineup.
