Pioneer Licenses TiVo Technology Jun 12, 2003

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today announced that it has signed a license agreement with TiVo, Inc. The company reports that that it is working with TiVo in the development of products that will be available later this year.

Pioneer believes that its arrangement with TiVo keeps with its image of innovation in the consumer electronics industry. According to Tom Haga, president of Pioneer’s home entertainment division, "The combined expertise of Pioneer and TiVo will undoubtedly bring new innovation that consumers desire." TiVo agrees that the license agreement will be mutually beneficial. "We are pleased to have a leader like Pioneer as a licensee of the TiVo technology," said Mike Ramsay, TiVo CEO. "Pioneer's long history of developing revolutionary home electronics products offers exciting possibilities for new TiVo-enabled products that we'll see in the marketplace very soon."
