Applica Consumer Products, Inc. announced it has entered a licensing agreement with Technology Research Corporation (TRC) of Clearwater, FL, U.S. to incorporate its FireShield™** Technology into Black & Decker®* Kitchen Products. Under a licensing agreement with TRC for the previous three years, Applica Consumer Products, Inc. has worked with TRC to implement the FireShield(TM)** Technology into its full line of Black & Decker®* heaters and now look to extend FireShield(TM)** Technology in Black & Decker®* Kitchen Products as part of its Advanced Safety Technology(TM) (AST)™ System. "TRC's FireShield(TM)** Technology has been an integral part of our broader and successful Black & Decker®* AST(TM) System," said Dann Provolo, Senior Group Marketing Director for New Products, Applica Consumer Products, Inc. "As leaders in the small appliance industry, we continually look for both performance and safety advancements that may result in higher level of consumer satisfaction." Called the Advanced Safety Technology(TM) (AST)(TM) System, the proprietary system reportedly combines a number of unique technologies and related safety benefits, including FireShield(TM)** Technology: featuring FireShield(TM)** Line Cord Protection in Black & Decker®* heaters and FireShield(TM)** Shock Prevention and FireShield(TM)** Flame Sensor.
