Dirt Devil, a Glenwillow, OH, U.S.-based maker of floor care products, announced on Monday its new Dirt Devil Sweeper Vac with Swiffer cleaning cloths.

According to the company, the Dirt Devil Sweeper Vac with Swiffer combines two of its innovative technologies -- the Swiffer cloth with deep Lift & Lock PocketsĀ® and a rechargeable vacuum from Dirt Devil, making one convenient cleaning tool. With a specially designed flexible swivel head that holds a Swiffer electrostatic cloth, the new Sweeper Vac reportedly eliminates the need to sweep floors separately.

The new floor care appliance has a suggested retail price of U.S. $39.99 and comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty. It is currently available at Wal-Mart and will be available at other major national retailers this month.

Royal Appliance Mfg. Co. is licensing the Swiffer trademark from Procter & Gamble for the Dirt Devil Sweeper Vac with Swiffer. Under this licensing agreement, Royal will produce, promote, and distribute Dirt Devil Sweeper Vac with Swiffer while P&G retains all rights to the Swiffer trademark.

This is the latest in a number of external business agreements struck by P&G. According to P&G, this is part of its strategy to achieve greater commercial returns from its R&D investments and brand equities by combining P&G trademarks, technology, and/or know-how with best-in-class outside companies to deliver mutually positive business results.
