Net sales for Helen of Troy for the 12 months ended Feb. 28 grew by 2.6 percent to U.S. $458.8 million, compared with $447.3 million for the year ended Feb. 28, 2002. The company reported net sales increased in both its North American and International operating segments, while net sales for its Tactica segment decreased. Gross profit as a percentage of sales was essentially flat, coming in at 46 percent for fiscal 2003 against 46.6 percent for fiscal 2002. Adjusted net earnings for 2003 were $38.7 million, compared with $30.8 million for 2002. For the fiscal year 2003, Helen of Troy’s North American segment claimed $346 million, the International segment claimed $33.8 million and Tactica claimed $79 million.
