IBM today introduced its new PC line, the ThinkCentre desktop computer, which will be available immediately. According to the company, the PC’s ThinkVantage technologies will help reduce system operating costs and increase productivity.
Models will include the S50, M50, and A50p. The S50 has dimensions of 12.2-in wide by 14.1-in deep by 3.3-in high and features an internal power supply, two full-size PCI slots, three bays, and an optical drive. According to the company, the M50 features enhanced support for Red Hat and SuSE Linux. The company described the A50p as a multimedia-centric machine, offering a range of optical drives, video graphics adapters, and up to 128 MB DDR memory. The company reports that all three models feature an easy-access, tool-free chassis design and a "caddy" that surrounds the hard disk drive, locking it into place without the use of tools or screws.
