Business appliance maker Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. (TAIS) today announced the appointment of Hidejiro Shimomitsu to president and CEO. Based in Irvine, CA, U.S., Mr. Shimomitsu is responsible for providing leadership to Toshiba's Computer Systems Group, Imaging Systems Division, Telecommunication Systems Division, Storage Device Division, and Network Products Division. Mr. Shimomitsu assumes the role from Hisatsugu Nonaka, who will return to Japan as executive vice president in Toshiba's Digital Media Network Company. Mr. Shimomitsu has been with Toshiba since 1976, most recently serving as vice president and general manager of the Personal Computer Division, International Operations in Japan. He has more than 25 years experience in the computer and communications businesses, as well as previous senior management experience in the U.S. and Europe. TAIS is a leading provider of business products and mobility solutions sold and marketed in the United States and Latin America. TAIS' business divisions include portable computers, server computers and appliance servers, digital business telephone systems, cable modems, digital cameras and imaging network systems, and storage subsystems and drives.
