Fagor Electrodomésticos, part of Spain's industrial cooperative MCC, filed for bankruptcy in late 2013. While it sold its French subsidiary, FagorBrandt, to Algerian conglomerate Cevital in June 2014, the fate of other company operations continue to be unresolved.
The UK marketer and distributor of Fagor appliances was De Dietrich Kitchen Appliances Limited. The company handled UK sales of Fagor appliances under the Fagor brand name as well as the high-end De Dietrich brand name.
James Cowper LLP said it is assisting with placing De Dietrich Kitchen Appliances into creditors voluntary liquidation and accept the appointment as joint liquidators.
“Although the announcement about a commercial partner is awaited, we expect that warranties given to customers with De Dietrich appliances will continue," said Peter Whalley of James Cowper LLP.
But the warranties of Fagor-brand appliances in the UK will not be honored in full, Whalley added. "Those affected by this will need to make claims in the liquidation in due course."
The firm expects to publish further guidance for De Dietrich and Fagor warranty claimants in the second week of August.
