Appliance maker Hisense South Africa is now working with 49M, a South African energy saving campaign.
The 49M campaign was launched in March 2011 as a response to the country’s constrained power system. The campaign encourages individuals and corporations to lead energy smart lifestyles.
Speaking at a pledge signing ceremony in Cape Town last week, Pieter Pretorius, Senior Manager Strategic Marketing for South African power utility Eskom, said the partnership seeks to join forces with businesses on common projects to drive sustainable living.
“We are extremely excited about this collaboration as we believe a collective effort will make a huge difference in our efforts to encourage the country to lead an energy efficient lifestyle,” said Pretorius.
Jerry Liu, GM of Hisense SA, said the company has also been working with the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) and with 49M by sponsoring the My Green Home Project. This seeks to educate the public on how to save energy when using consumer electronics and home appliances.
