Air Handlers and Residential Furnaces Show 1Q Gains in Canada

Air handlers and residential furnaces were the HVAC categories showing increases in Canadian shipments in the first quarter of 2014, according to Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI).

HRAI data showed that:
• air handler shipments in 1Q 2014 were up 42% from 1Q 2013
• residential furnaces were up 14%

All other product areas showed shipment decreases, including:
• unit heaters in 1Q 2014 were down 3% from 1Q 2013
• ductless split systems were down 3%
• chillers were down 5%
• residential air-conditioning were down 6%
• commercial air-conditioning were down 16%
