Deere & Company will move production of EZtrak zero turn mowers from its factory in Horicon, WI, to its facility in Greeneville, TN.

"This is a customer-focused initiative that moves the production of this product line closer to its customer base," said James Field, president of the Worldwide Agriculture & Turf Division. "We also will improve our logistics for distributing this product."

The move will not reduce the number of core wage employees in Horicon but will reduce the number of seasonal employees hired during peak manufacturing times at the plant. The move will increase seasonal manufacturing operations and distribution positions in Greeneville.

John Deere Horicon Works manufactures premium lawn equipment and utility vehicles. Deere said the move of zero-turn mowers will provide additional factory space and workforce stability at Horicon.

The Greeneville plant will expand its product line, and will no longer be solely focused on the John Deere 100 Series Lawn Tractor. Production of the zero-turn mower will begin in Greeneville by early October 2014.
