Haier America President and CEO Shariff Kan has stepped down and will be replaced by Adrian Micu effective Feb. 10, 2014.

Kan lead Haier America through its entrée to the United States appliance market. He helped develop the company from a trading operation into a U.S. based manufacturer of home appliances. The company now sells a range of appliances and consumer electronics in North America. Haier said Kan's many contributions to Haier America were greatly appreciated.

Micu comes to Haier with 25 years of executive level engineering, technology, and product development experience in the appliance industry, most recently serving as vice president of Engineering with Whirlpool Corp.

“I am honored for the opportunity to lead such a promising company into the next phase of their evolution,” said Micu. “I look forward to developing the Haier brand into a household name in appliances and electronics, advance the momentum that our team has created over the past few years and help the organization capitalize on Haier's overall strengths to achieve its full potential in the Americas.”

Haier America is a division of the multinational Haier Group, maker of home appliances and consumer electronics. Haier 70,000 employees around the world and distributes its products in more than 100 countries and regions. Global revenues were $29.5 billion in 2013.
