Aluminum Shipments Were Up 5% in 2012

The Aluminum Association's 2012 Aluminum Statistical Review showed that overall aluminum demand in the United States and Canada grew by 5.1%. The report was released in December 2013.

The report found that aluminum demand in North America was up 5.1% to 23.7 billion pounds in 2012. The aluminum supply was up 2.1% to 24.6 billion pounds.

Net shipments of semi-fabricated or mill products increased 4.2% over the previous year to 16.2 billion pounds.

Other aluminum markets include the transportation industry/auto manufacturing, building/construction, electrical (including wire and cable), and container/packaging.
