Electrolux North America has deployed the Luxkitchen, its first mobile kitchen showroom.
The mobile showroom was built in a purpose-built 40-foot shipping container and is equipped with two microwaves, a dishwasher, two refrigerators, a front load washer and dryer, a double wall oven, two freestanding ovens (electric and gas), and two induction cooktops.
The mobile showroom was built for Electrolux by Boxman Studios, which specializes in modifying shipping containers for secondary uses. Boxman and Electrolux North America are both based in Charlotte, NC.
Boxman built the Luxkitchen showroom with stainless steel countertops and custom wood framework and cabinetry. The custom finish work was built to keep the kitchen secure, even while being transported. Cook-top counters are placed on tracks that slide-out onto fold-down floors.
Electrolux North American CEO Jack Truong was on-site at Electrolux headquarters for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Luxkitchen, and said the Luxkitchen will change how the company can interact with customers.
