Whirlpool Corp. promoted Joseph Liotine president of U.S. operations and appointed him to the corporation's Executive Committee. Liotine is currently vice president of marketing for the company's North American region.
"This new role was created to provide more leadership capacity to pursue the significant number of market growth opportunities that we have in the U.S. and around the world," said Jeff Fettig, Whirlpool Corp. chairman and CEO. "Joe has demonstrated proven leadership in both Canada and in North America Marketing that will enable us to accelerate our growth in the U.S. particularly with improving levels of appliance demand."
Liotine joined Whirlpool as a finance manager in 2004 and has since held positions of increasing responsibility in finance, strategy and operations, sales, brands, and product categories. As VP Marketing North American region, his current position, he is responsible for the product category and brand teams' performance. He has a BA in Finance from Illinois State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Whirlpool, a global appliance producer, said the announcement comes after a strong financial quarter for the company.

"We are well positioned to address market growth opportunities and continue to grow our profitability and market position. Joe will do an outstanding job leading these teams' efforts in meeting our strategic priorities."
Liotine will assume his now position as of Dec. 1, 2013.
