Appliance and consumer electronics maker Hisense launched the 84-inch UHD TV, which will be manufactured at the company's plant in Atlantis, South Africa. It will be the biggest TV to be produced in the country.
Logistics business DHL placed the first orders for the new TV.
Hisense invested 350 million South African Rand (approx. US$35.5 million) in the 100,000-square-meter plant in Atlantis, opening it in June 2013. The plant has the capacity to produce 400 000 refrigerators and TVs annually. The plant has hired 300 locals to serve in production positions.
Hisense plans to invest another 1 billion South African Rand in the country, and expect to create another 550 jobs.
