The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) commented on proposed amendments to the Ontario Ministry of Energy (OME) energy efficiency regulations.

The jointly submitted comments, submitted Aug. 16, 2013, supported proposed amendments that set efficiency levels for several products:
* gas-fired floor furnaces
* residential electric furnaces
* residential electric boilers
* residential oil furnaces
* residential oil-fired boilers
* commercial gas furnaces with input ratings from 225,000 Btu/h to 400,000 Btu/h
* central air-conditioners and heat pumps
* packaged terminal air-conditioners and heat pumps

AHRI said the proposed amendments for this list of products are consistent with the existing U.S. DOE regulations.

AHRI said the comments did not address proposed energy efficiency standards for residential gas and electric storage water heaters. AHRI said it will advise its members when the OME issues finalized amended requirements.
